Above Midori Pencase

The appearance of brass always brings back old memories and fascinates one deeply. Long time use changes its material qualities, making the objects crafted from this beautiful metal precious tools.

Uncoated brass and copper will tarnish over time. It will get darker, duller and richer. However, its shine can be restored at any time, either use a polishing cloth or a polishing compound found at common hardware stores.

The Pocket clutch pencil by German manufacturer Kaweco is a staple of any artist or designer’s toolkit. Highly crafted after German standards, the octagonally shaped brass pen sits well in the hand, being just as heavy as need be. The sketch pencil is elegant but also functional, having an integrated sharpener on its end.

In the hands of Seattle-based designers Jamie Iacoli and Brian McAllister, a rod of solid brass becomes an elegant bar tool. The simple hexagonal form is too striking to keep stashed in a drawer when not in use. The uncoated matte brass will develop a rich patina over time: if you prefer a brighter finish, buff with a polishing cloth.

Made from solid brass, Kaweco’s Liliput pen unfolds its compact shape into a pen just long enough to sit comfortably in your hand. Its discrete design gives the pen an enigmatic and enduring quality; think of it as a modern heirloom you’ll be able to pass down to the future generation.

The brass pen tray, designed by Taku Shinimoto, is hand-made by the master craftsmen from Nousaku Corporation located in the historical city of Takaoka, Japan. The area is well renowned for its superb brass and metal products as well as its craftsmanship dating back to the early 1600’s AD. Takaoka still remains the hub of many highly skilled artisans and designers which continue to develop a wide range of metal products in the traditional Tokugawa-era metalsmith style.

These solid brass bookends have curved edges and provide a minimalist aesthetic to your bookshelf. Designed by Taku Shinimoto they are hand-made by the master craftsmen from Nousaku Corporation located in the historical city of Takaoka, Japan.
